    What is Not Covered

  • This warranty does not cover conditions or damage caused by accidents, alterations, misuse, or failure to follow maintenance and operating guidelines.  In addition, normal wear and tear is not covered by this warranty.  AMERICAN BLIND & SHADE AND ITS AFFILIATED COMPANIES AND INSTALLERS SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR INCIDENTIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES including but not limited to those detailed below:

    • If the product’s usage, adaptation, or installation are not in accordance with our install and/or operating instructions.
    • If the product experiences fading (within the fabric manufacturer's allowable specifications), staining of the fabric,  scratching, chipping, or dullness to the paint finish over time due to the use, cleaning practices, or water or atmospheric conditions (e.g. salt or acidic corrosion); which are all indicative of normal wear and tear.
    • If the window treatment has been relocated from where it was originally installed.
    • If the window treatment, whether motorized or manual, has been used to perform functions other than the function it was designed to handle – namely to act as a shading system only and for no other purpose (e.g. - do not hang items from the window treatment or use it as a lifting device).
    • For exterior window treatments: If the product was damaged by "acts of God", such as excessive high wind and/or rain, due to being left exposed rather than safely stowed.
    • For motorized systems: If electronics supplied by American Blind & Shade are improperly wired or if used with electrical accessories (e.g. - switches, relays) that were not previously supplied by us for installation with the motorized system.
