Accurate Measurements

Accurate measurements are crucial to a successful order. It is the customer’s responsibility to read and follow our 'How to Measure' instructions, including the product-specific Measurement Guides, very carefully. You assume full responsibility for the accuracy of measurements, unless field measurement services are provided by American Blind & Shade. Should an error on your part occur, we will be here to assist you with determining if any adjustments can be made that will allow the product to fit, or if necessary, ordering a replacement product of the correct size with accompanying charges. We regret that refunds or credits cannot be issued due to incorrect sizing from customer-provided measurements.

Color Accuracy

All of our products are custom fabricated and CANNOT be returned for any reason, including dissatisfaction with color. It is therefore your responsibility to ensure, prior to placing the order, that the color(s) you select for your products will be acceptable to you. If you would like assistance with color selection or have questions about color-coordinated parts, please Contact Us.

WEBSITE COLOR IMAGES—We make our best effort to accurately represent fabric/material colors on our website; nonetheless, actual fabric/material colors may vary from the images onscreen due to technological limitations of the scanners, monitors, and/or video cards in use. Subtle variations in color and surface texture may not be fully revealed in a small onscreen color swatch, and tints or hues can shift depending on your monitor settings. By making a color selection, you agree that any slight difference between the actual product color as fabricated and the representation of that color on our website will be acceptable. If more precise color selection is critical for your situation, please request free material samples prior to placing your order.

SAMPLE COLORS—Slight variations in color may occur between a sample swatch and the finished product due to run-to-run dye lot variations. These variations are not defects, but are common to the manufacturing process and are within industry tolerances. American Blind & Shade shall not be responsible for dye lot variances. Therefore, we recommend that when identical products of the same color are to be used for more than one opening, that they all be ordered at the same time so as to be of the same dye lot.

BACKLIGHTING OF FABRICS—"Backlighting" is the effect seen when light filters through translucent fabrics from behind, such as daylight seen through a shade or curtain. Our web images cannot display the effect of backlighting, which may soften colors and highlight fabric textures. American Blind & Shade shall not be responsible for color variances due to backlighting. If the effect of backlighting is a concern, please request free material samples prior to placing your order.

COLOR-COORDINATED COMPONENTS—An exact color match between the primary material of a window treatment and the secondary components — such as tassels, strings, trim, or other parts — is rarely possible. Therefore, manufacturers provide “color-coordinated” accessories using components that are similar in color, but not necessarily a precise match. In addition, neutral colored head and/or bottom rails may be used in conjunction with color-coordinated inserts. Manufacturers’ designer-selected, color-coordinated components assure you that all our coverings provide a complete and integrated look.

Child Safety

To avoid possible injury or strangulation from the cords on blinds and shades, please keep the all loose cords out of the reach of small children. At minimum, GSA Child Care Center Design Guide regulations require that any cord be secured at a height of 1375 mm / 54.2” or higher, above the reach of children.

Safety Options:

  • Tie the cord to itself up high;
  • Secure with a small clamp or binder clip;
  • Cord Cleat or P-clip: Available upon request for all products that have cords;
  • Tension Device: Comes standard on roller shades, and optional for other products such as cellular shades, sheer shades, verticals, and drapery;
  • Cordless options are available in most product categories;
  • Motorization of window treatments eliminates dangerous cords.
