Measure twice, cut once.

  • Record WIDTH first, then HEIGHT (sometimes also referred to as "length" of fabrics), rounded down to the nearest 1/8".
  • Measure width from left to right, height from top to bottom, using a steel tape measure. Do not use a cloth measuring tape, ruler, or yardstick.
  • And, when you are certain your measurements are correct, measure again! Perhaps in a slightly different spot.
  • Measure each window individually, as size variances are common. Assign a unique ID number to each window if you have quite a few.
  • Before ordering, refer to the Measurement Guide below for the specific product type and mount you will be using; make any recommended adjustments to size per the Guide, and enter the final dimensions as the Size input for your order.

Inside Mount Measurement Tips

“Inside Mount" means that the treatment fits inside the door/window frame or opening. Deductions, allowing for precise fit and function, are automatically subtracted by the factory. These deductions may vary by type of product selected and/or manufacturer. So please, DO NOT take any deductions of your own. Submit the actual exact measurements of your opening, rounded down to the nearest 1/8 of an inch, as the Size input when ordering items for Inside Mount.

Outside Mount Measurement Tips

"Outside Mount" means that the treatment extends beyond the sides, above the top, and in some cases, below the bottom of the actual frame or opening. This type of mount may also be referred to as "surface mount" because the product is attached to the wall surface. The factory does not adjust the measurements for Outside Mount items. Therefore, for all products excluding roller shades, you will need to determine the finished size you need. Submit the resulting size of the product, NOT the size of your opening, as the Size input when ordering items for Outside Mount.

Please consider the following when ordering Outside Mount items:

  • Doors and windows being covered with floor-length treatments require that width and length be added to the actual door/window opening size to allow the completed treatment to extend above the top and beyond each side of the opening, only. Refer to measurement guide below for each distinct product type for specifics.
  • Windows that are not being covered with a floor-length treatment require that width and length be added to the actual window opening size to allow the completed treatment to extend above, below and beyond each side of the opening. Refer to measurement guide below for each distinct product type for specifics.
  • An Outside Mount for a window with a sill extending more than 3/4 inch into the room from the wall surface, may require the treatment to stop at sill level. In this case, measurements would be taken from the sill up, and additions to the actual opening size would be made only to extend the treatment above the top and beyond each side of the opening.
